A client from Kahului brought his new 2016 Toyota Tacoma to Certified Sounds, looking for upgrades for his factory system. We listened carefully to what he wanted to accomplish with his upgrade, and determined that his factory head unit would work just fine as a source. That allowed us to focus on a high-quality processor, amplifiers, upgraded speakers and subs.
Mosconi Processor Is The Brains Of The Tacoma Upgrades
The Mosconi controller allows the client to adjust the system volume, subwoofer level, balance and fading as well as changing presets.
To allow seamless integration into the factory system, the first step for the signal was a Mosconi 6to8 Digital Signal Processor that allowed us to take the audio information from the factory head unit and get a good-quality signal to work with. The factory system has a built-in processor to try to squeeze better performance out of the low-end factory speakers. The 6to8 DSP allows us to remove the OEM processing from the signal and give us a clean audio source for the new equipment. The Mosconi 6to8 did the job nicely and, with the Mosconi RCD remote custom-mounted overhead in a dropdown factory compartment, it is easy to make adjustments.
Clean Power Provided By Mosconi Amplifiers
We decided to use a Mosconi One 60.6 six-channel amplifier for all of the speakers. This allowed separate channels for the rear-mounted coax, as well as four channels to bi-amp the door-mounted 6″ woofers and dash-mounted tweeters for precise control over the frequencies and individual levels. The subwoofers are powered by a Mosconi One 240.2 delivering 240 watts to each of the two 10″ subs.
Great Sounding Focal Speakers
Since our client wanted a great-sounding system, we decided to use all Focal speakers for this system. We accomplished the goal for the front stage with the Focal 165KRX2 component set with door-mounted 6″ for midbass and midrange, and mounted the tweeters on the dash to raise the soundstage. The Mosconi DSP processor and separate amplifier channels made it possible to really dial in the front stage for that live, upfront sound that our client wanted. For the rear fill, we used 165KRC coax off the remaining two channels of the 60.6.
Great Bass In A Small Space
The JL Audio subwoofers fit perfectly behind the passenger seat and took up minimal space in the truck.
To keep a nice, tight bass and make the most of the available space, we decided to use two JL Audio 10TW1 subs. The 10TW1 subwoofers are a “thin” subwoofer that allows them to fit in spaces that a traditional subwoofer won’t, they were a perfect match for the space behind the seat in this truck. They provide a smooth, deep bass that blends in nicely with the midbass from the Focals. The 240.2 provides plenty of power with lots of headroom for those high-demand bass notes.
Protected By Viper
The vehicle and the new system are protected by a Viper 3606v security system with upgraded 7756v LCD remote. The upgraded remote allows the client to receive notifications, from up to a mile away, if the vehicle is tampered with. The LCD screen provides information on sensor violations as well as status of the security system.
This system turned out great and exceeded the customer’s expectations. We can do the same for you! Contact us here at Certified Sounds and let one of our experts show you what we can do for your vehicle.
