A fellow business owner from Wailuku came to Certified Sounds with his 2007 Toyota Camry, looking to upgrade the audio system. He initially thought he was going to buy some new home audio equipment, but after auditioning some equipment at our shop and hearing how good a car stereo system can sound, he decided to spend his money on a car audio upgrade.
Pioneer NEX Source Unit
We started by installing a Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX touchscreen navigation system in the dash. He instantly gained all of the technology available in a new vehicle, including Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming, along with Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto capability.
Mosconi Processor, Brains Of The System
From there, the music travels to a Mosconi 6to8 sound processor, where much of the music happens. This allows the stereo system to have dedicated amplifier channels for the front component speakers and the subwoofer, along with digital delay, equalization and crossover adjustments tailored to each individual speaker. We mounted the controller for the unit in the sunglass holder in the ceiling, so it’s easy to make adjustments while driving.
Mosconi Amplifiers Power System
The signal now travels to a trio of amplifiers tasked with powering the system. A Mosconi 60.6 powers the front door woofers, midrange and tweeter combination, and the rear deck speakers. A Gladen One 240.2 amplifier powers the subwoofer, and a Gladen RC90C2 powers the rear deck speakers.
Top-Of-The-Line Gladen Speakers
In the front of the vehicle, Certified Sounds installed a set of three-way Gladen Zero Pro 165.3 component speakers on custom-machined mounts. We also installed sound-damping material in the front doors to eliminate any possibility of rattling or vibration.
Rear Fill Speakers
For rear fill, we installed a Gladen Alpha 609 6×9” coaxial speaker in the rear deck and, again, applied sound-damping material to eliminate the possibility of noise from the new high-performance speakers.
High End Subwoofer Adds Bass
When it came time for bass, we went back to Gladen, using their 12” SQX subwoofer, installing it in a custom enclosure designed to send the energy of the subwoofer through the ski hole in the back seat. We made a custom trim panel to flush it into the trunk; a combination of clear acrylic and LED lighting makes it a beautiful addition to the vehicle.
Final Tuning For Camry Audio System
When the installation was finished, our team hooked up a laptop to the Mosconi processor and spent significant time on fine-tuning the audio system, looking for every last nuance in quality. The results were extraordinary, taking you back to your favorite concert experience and making you want to spend hours just sitting and listening.
Compustar System Protects Car And Adds Convenience
While we had the vehicle, we added a Compustar 2W901-SS remote start and alarm combination. The remote control is a two-way design, meaning the client gets confirmation of any command he asks of the vehicle, plus alerts if someone is tampering with it.
